The new headlights will independently switch between low and high beam, and when oncoming traffic appears, they will adjust the beam so as not to blind the driver. This is achieved by turning off some of the diodes. At the same time, the vehicle's own lane and the roadside will remain illuminated.

The appearance of such headlights is not just following a trend. According to data obtained during joint research by Opel and the Technical University of Darmstadt, the use of LED lighting at speeds up to 80 km/h allows the driver to notice an obstacle or threat on the roadside 30–40 meters earlier than when using halogen or xenon lamps. In terms of time, this is about 1.5 seconds of additional reaction time. Statistics show that even one gained second can often prevent an accident or save a person's life.
