Anush Biloshytska reported that specialists are currently testing and adjusting equipment for automatic recording of violations. The corresponding software, already installed on cameras, after an update will allow recognizing cases of driving through a prohibited traffic light signal.
This concerns expanding the capabilities of already operating cameras. Currently, they control speeding, violations of parking and stopping rules, as well as driving into a lane designated for public transport. Later, recording of running a red light will be added to this list, regardless of whether other violations were committed.
The representative of the Center for Infrastructure and Technologies emphasized that this is an important step to improve road safety. Driving through a prohibited signal is not just an administrative violation, but creates a real threat to the lives of road users, especially at intersections.
The fine for this violation remains preliminary — 510 hryvnias. However, now the risk of being fined will significantly increase, since the recording process will be automatic, without the need for police presence.
After the test period is completed, the system will operate in normal mode, and information from cameras will be transmitted to relevant authorities for further processing. As before, the list of places where cameras are installed can be viewed on the official portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Anush Biloshytska concluded that not only a decrease in the number of offenses is expected, but also a positive impact on saving lives, because discipline on the road is formed by observing even the smallest rules.
