As reported by Ukravtodor, the standard was jointly developed by specialists from the State Enterprise "DorNDI" and "Agents of Change" taking into account foreign experience. DSTU 4100:2021 provides for new principles and rules for the layout of road signs:
- writing text with a capital letter;
- new shape of arrows;
- European-style symbols are used to indicate the center of a settlement and a river;
- clear proportions and distances between elements are defined, depending on the size of the capital letter, which is chosen based on the sign installation location and road category;
- transliteration of settlement names;
- new designation for diagonal pedestrian crossings and a new plate for safety islands;
- new signs and plates for road signs for the development of cycling infrastructure;
- a new algorithm for placing signs on a single support to avoid ambiguous interpretation, as well as a new section on placing signs on shields and background shields.
