Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Kostiantyn Usov announced that the capital is launching an initiative to gradually reduce the permitted speed to 30 km/h in residential areas. First of all, this will affect sections located near schools and medical institutions. For example, on Liuteranska Street, where a lyceum is located, traffic is quite intense.

Usov noted that such a practice of speed restriction has long been applied in European countries. In particular, such norms are in effect in Berlin and Brussels.

“In Oslo, in 2015, a limit of 30 km/h was introduced for city roads, and by 2019, according to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, the number of deaths in accidents there had decreased to one person,” the official emphasized.
