Not all voters supported the initiative to increase the permitted speed: 15,783 people (29%) voted against, 14,993 (28%) supported only certain items of the list, and only 23,082 (43%) fully approved the innovation. However, the new leadership of the traffic police made a balanced decision and reduced the list from 21 sections to 11, choosing those where the number of dissenters was minimal.

Opponents of the changes reasonably noted that the level of driver discipline and the quality of the road surface are still far from ideal. It is also worth remembering that in Ukraine there is a non-fine threshold for exceeding the speed limit of 20 km/h. Consequently, the permitted 80 km/h almost automatically turns into a hundred, and this is already a fairly high speed for urban conditions.

The Autoportal team positively assesses the initiative of the traffic police and expresses hope that overly risky drivers will not compromise such a reasonable initiative.
