According to Carscoops, 7,483 vehicles in the United States are affected by the recall. The list includes the S60, V60, S90, V90, XC60, and XC90 models. The greatest danger arises when the battery is fully charged, especially if the vehicle is left overnight in a garage.

Volvo specialists have recorded a "deviation in the battery module manufacturing process" that could cause a short circuit. The batteries for these cars are supplied by LG. The defect was discovered on February 6, 2024, after a complaint from one of the owners.

After several months of investigation, the company confirmed two incidents related to this malfunction. There is no information about injuries, but Volvo decided not to take risks and launched a large-scale recall campaign.

Notifications for vehicle owners who may have the problem will begin in May. Owners will be offered a free battery diagnostic at dealerships. If the defect is confirmed, the battery will be replaced, and software will be updated to avoid further risks.
