According to Forbes, the value of a Tesla Model Y electric car on the secondary market has dropped by $6,000 over the past year, so such a car can now be found for $30,000, which is noticeably cheaper than twelve months ago.
The price reduction has also affected other models of the brand: for example, the Tesla Model X has dropped in price from $45,000 to $41,500. On average, the price tag for used Tesla electric cars has fallen from $32,000 to $29,000. The most significant drop was recorded for the new Cybertruck — its value has fallen by a quarter since sales began in 2023.
At the same time, electric cars from other manufacturers, including Kia and Ford, are maintaining stable prices or even becoming more expensive, while Tesla is moving in the opposite direction. However, analysts warn: a shortage of supply in the used car market could trigger price increases as early as mid-2025.
Among the key factors behind the price drop are Elon Musk's political stance and the brand's close connection to his public statements. In addition, the company is currently experiencing a financial crisis, which is manifested in a noticeable decline in profits and a reduction in delivery volumes to European markets.
