For the same period, Toyota's revenue decreased by 398.5 billion yen, which corresponds to a decline of 5.7%, and at the end of the quarter will reach 6.589 trillion yen ($64.9 billion). At the same time, income from car sales fell by 6%, amounting to 6.029 trillion yen ($59.4 billion).

The company attributes the decline in revenue and income to the strengthening of the Japanese yen, which negatively affected receipts from car sales abroad. In the first quarter, Toyota's revenue from car sales in North America decreased by 10.8% year-on-year, in Europe by 3.4%, and in the countries of Central and South America, Africa, Oceania, and the Middle East by 12.5%. At the same time, in Asia the company managed to increase sales revenue by 3.5%.

The total number of Toyota cars sold in the first quarter of the 2016-2017 fiscal year increased by 2.77% and amounted to 2.172 million units. At the same time, sales grew in Asian countries, Europe, and the domestic Japanese market, while in North America and other regions of the world they decreased.
For the entire 2016-2017 fiscal year, Toyota expects to receive revenue of 26 trillion yen (8.5% less than a year earlier) and profit of 1.45 trillion yen (-37.3%).
