Compared to the original version presented in 2013 at the Tokyo Motor Show, the new model received a more restrained appearance, updated technical components, and a special drift mode. The car's premiere took place in Rio de Janeiro shortly before the start of the Olympic Games.

"For the rear-wheel-drive sports coupe Genesis, the 2016 model year will be the final one," noted Hinley. "Work is currently underway on a new, more advanced and prestigious coupe that will appear under the luxury brand Genesis."

The reason for abandoning the previous model was confusion between the car's name and a separate brand with the same name. The premiere of the new coupe is expected no earlier than 2017, along with five other new cars. In addition, it is expected that the new model will have a high-performance version capable of competing with the BMW M4.

Under the hood of the new coupe will be a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine, already familiar from the Genesis G90 sedan. In this model, the unit is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and produces 370 horsepower.
