Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a document regulating new requirements for the selection of cars for government officials. According to this resolution, for vehicles assigned to employees personally, a power limit is set — no more than 200 horsepower. As for vehicles provided upon a separate request, their power is limited to 150 horsepower.

The Russian government believes that such steps will reduce spending on the maintenance and repair of expensive cars. In addition, Medvedev noted that an official who does not wish to use the provided transport has the right to refuse it and use a personal car, paying for fuel and maintenance themselves.

It should be recalled that price restrictions for official cars are already in effect in Russia. Thus, for heads of federal state bodies, the cost of a car cannot exceed 2.5 million rubles, and for heads of structural divisions of such bodies, this threshold is set at 1.5 million rubles.
