For the second year in a row, the rally organizers choose Ukraine as the starting point. Last year, the electric car rally started from Kyiv; in 2016, marathon participants will drive from Lviv. The ceremonial start is scheduled for May 22, and the finish - on June 3 (traditionally in Monaco).
Currently, Lviv is actively preparing to host the unique "green" race.
"Energy saving is valued worldwide. A hundred years ago, the world admired internal combustion engines, but today the world understands that the future belongs to electric cars," notes Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
The organizers state that the anniversary 5th Marathon will start from the city of the Lion (Lviv) by chance, as Lviv and Monte Carlo have a historical connection. It was in these cities that circuit car races were held in the 30s of the 20th century.
"It happened as we wanted. The mayor and I discussed last year the possibility of starting from Lviv, since Monte Carlo and Lviv have a historical connection and share the same vision of the future. Lviv is rapidly striving to develop infrastructure. The state of the environment is very important to you. These are the same priorities and values that Prince Albert II and his small country uphold. This race will be the anniversary, the fifth one. I promise it will be interesting," noted Monaco Consul Yuriy Tamm.
