The new model is called Ioniq. The hybrid modifications will be based on a 1.6-liter 105-horsepower gasoline engine GDI Kappa with direct injection and a 32-kilowatt (43.5 hp) electric unit, powered by a lithium-ion polymer battery. The total power of the hybrid system will be 141 horsepower, and peak torque reaches 265 Nm. It will be paired with a new 6-speed robotized gearbox with two clutches.

The car has an original design, indicating that Toyota Prius is considered its main competitor. To reduce the weight of the vehicle, engineers made some body parts from aluminum. In addition, the car has a fairly low drag coefficient of 0.24, which should also have a positive effect on its fuel efficiency.
