The civilian version of the Beijing Auto B80V continues the theme of the military SUV B80VJ, which has already rolled off the assembly line. In terms of technical content, the B80V is hardly capable of surprising: the base 2.4-liter engine producing 143 horsepower is clearly weak for such weight and class.

However, according to rumors, the Chinese manufacturer is considering a B80V version with an engine that they got from SAAB, which was revived with their participation. This is a two-liter turbo engine with 204 hp — such an engine looks much more appropriate under the hood of this "pseudo-Gelendevagen".

But the transmission here is simple and predictable: a five-speed manual gearbox and Parm-Time all-wheel drive. For a Chinese SUV, such a solution looks quite justified. The price and trim levels of the Beijing Auto B80V will be revealed in spring at the Beijing Auto Show.
