The most interesting part is hidden inside – as you can see in the images, the cheap version of the Sportage is equipped with a tiny monochrome audio system screen and air conditioning, and the trim itself is made of simple materials (on the plus side – the instrument cluster is digital). For comparison, the higher trims feature a media system with a large display, climate control, and other “goodies”.

But the “exterior” is equally attractive in both the “top” and “base” trims. By the way, with the change of generations, the Sportage has started to look radically different: its appearance features sculptural forms, sharp edges, and a sporty-aggressive silhouette.

It is worth noting that so far the Kia Sportage 2022 is sold only in its native South Korea, where the car is priced at just under $22,000 (converted from the local currency). The base engine is a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 180 hp, and a step above is a 2.0-liter diesel producing 186 hp. In the first case, buyers have a choice of gearboxes – a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed “robot”, while in the second, an 8-speed automatic is offered as the only option. Later, other powertrains will be added to the lineup, including hybrids.
Interestingly, for Asia, North America, and Europe, the new Sportages are intended in different body styles. Thus, the Asian and American markets will offer a longer crossover (its length is 4660 mm, wheelbase – 2755 mm; in fact, it is shown in the photos), while the European market will get a shorter version with a redesigned rear. The latter has not been presented yet, but its live photos have already leaked online.
