The new Nissan Qashqai will receive exclusively petrol 1.3- and 1.5-liter engines, which will be supplemented by a "mild hybrid" generator – a 12-volt electrical system with a belt drive and a small lithium-ion battery. This addition will help the engines during acceleration and thereby save fuel.

The base version of the model will get a 1.3-liter engine, available in two power outputs – 140 hp and 240 Nm, and 160 hp and 270 Nm. The engine will be paired with two transmissions – a 6-speed manual and an Xtronic CVT. The latter, as well as all-wheel drive, will be available as an option.

But the top versions of the Nissan Qashqai 2022 are entitled to a 1.5-liter engine; it will become part of the e-Power hybrid system. It will also include an electric motor and a battery pack, with the internal combustion engine acting as a range extender that charges the battery. That is, the "petrol engine" will not be connected to the car's wheels in any way; it is needed solely as a generator. The total power of such a system, according to Nissan engineers, will be 190 hp and 330 Nm.

It is also currently known that with the change of generations, the crossover will move to the new CMF-C platform, and its length will be 4.42 m. In addition, compared to its predecessor, the Qashqai 3 will get a more spacious interior. Externally, the car will feature a bolder and more aggressive appearance and stylistic solutions borrowed from the fresh Juke (so far only a camouflaged test prototype has been shown).
