Visually, the Toyota GR Yaris CVT replicates the appearance of the 272-horsepower all-wheel-drive hot hatch, but under the hood it has a completely different filling. Instead of the three-cylinder turbocharged G16E-GTS engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters, a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 120 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque is installed here. The six-speed iMT manual gearbox with automatic rev-matching during gear changes has been replaced by a CVT.

The GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system, which includes a multi-plate clutch on the rear axle, two optional Torsen differentials with mechanical locking, and three operating modes, is also a thing of the past. The simplified version of the GR Yaris has drive exclusively to the front wheels.

Currently, the GR Yaris CVT exists only as a concept, while the standard GR Yaris is already accepting orders in the RZ “First Edition” and RZ “High-performance First Edition” trim levels, which differ from each other in the set of options.
