The name also contains a reference to James Cameron's film "Avatar," which inspired the car's developers.

The company explained that the Vision AVTR demonstrates the connection between man, nature, and machine, and also embodies the dream of a society in which these three links coexist in perfect symbiosis.

The show car received an electric powertrain, and interior details, including the seats, are made from recycled materials and their shape resembles the hammocks of Pandora's inhabitants in Cameron's film. There are no conventional controls, so the driver will have to completely trust the autopilot.

The four-seat Vision AVTR has a teardrop shape, and the cabin provides seating for four people. The "extraterrestrial" look of the car is enhanced by 33 movable aerodynamic flaps at the rear, which can change their position synchronously. Another unusual feature is the rhythmic pulsation of the lighting, which adapts to the driver's heartbeat rhythm.

The electric car is powered by a 470-horsepower unit, and the battery capacity is 110 kilowatt-hours. Mercedes-Benz emphasized that the battery contains no rare-earth metals and operates on the principles of organic chemistry. On a single charge, the Vision AVTR can travel 700 kilometers.
