The company positions the new product as a "city coupe." The car will be built on the modular MQB-A0 platform, which is already used in the current Polo hatchback. The overall length of the car will remain within four meters, and the wheelbase will be 2560 millimeters.
It is expected that the T-Sport model, which will occupy a niche below the T-Cross, will receive a three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with a displacement of one liter, developing 115 horsepower. The lineup will also include a naturally aspirated engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters, producing about 120 horsepower. These engines will be paired with a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Brazilian market will see the T-Sport in May 2020. Possibly, later the car will also enter the European market, where its assembly will be organized at the plant in Spanish Navarra — on the same line as the well-selling Polo.
