The automaker plans to seriously update the appearance of its models, which in the near future will switch to electric engines. Compared to previous versions, the new cars will stand out with a different hood shape and updated bumpers both at the front and rear.
It is worth noting that the Smart brand intends to fully switch to producing cars exclusively with electric powertrains after 2020. In March of this year, Daimler and Chinese auto giant Geely announced the creation of a joint venture with equal shares. Within this project, it is planned to develop and launch production of a new generation of urban electric vehicles, which will appear on the market under the Smart brand.
The exterior of the cars will be developed by Mercedes-Benz designers, while the technical content will be prepared by Geely engineers. The plans include the release of several models, including larger variants belonging to the actively developing B-segment.
