The two-box model received local changes — the design of the front fog lights was revised, the bumpers' design was changed, and the housings of the headlights and taillights were tinted. In addition, the interior was updated, and the base engine can now be ordered with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Honda engineers say that with the facelift, the hatchback has improved in vibration-acoustic comfort. The variety of interior trim options has increased, and the equipment of trim levels has been revised. The media system with a seven-inch screen, push-button engine start, keyless entry function, and an audio system with eight speakers are now included in the base equipment, while top versions received multi-contour front seats with eight-way power adjustment.

Technically, the 2020 Civic differs in improved LED optics. But the range of engines has not changed: in the States, the hatchback can still be ordered only with a 1.5-liter turbo engine, whose power depends on the chosen trim level (176 or 183 horsepower). For LX, EX, and EX-L versions, a CVT is offered, for Sport and Sport Touring — also a six-speed manual.

In Europe, the engine lineup differs and includes a 1.0-liter VTEC Turbo (126 hp and 200 Nm of torque), 1.5 VTEC Turbo (182 hp and 240 Nm of torque), and a 1.6 i-DTEC diesel (120 hp and 300 Nm of torque). Petrol hatchbacks are equipped with a manual or CVT, diesel ones — with a manual or nine-speed automatic transmission.
