The car debuted in Germany ahead of the 24-hour Nürburgring marathon.

The track hot hatch is equipped with a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine developing "more than 300 horsepower." Apparently, the car's exterior will be styled after the eponymous prototype presented in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In particular, the production car will feature a massive rear wing with two sections, as well as twin exhaust tips, alloy wheels, and a large diffuser.

According to preliminary data, lightweight materials will be used in the hatchback's construction. In addition, the chassis, suspension, and braking systems will be upgraded.

The company noted that the new Mini John Cooper Works GP laps the Nürburgring's Nordschleife in under 8 minutes, while its predecessor posted a time of 8 minutes and 23 seconds.

It is expected that the Mini John Cooper Works will be officially unveiled in the near future. Sales of the new model, limited to 3,000 units, will begin in 2020.
