The head of Citroen said that their new flagship car will be unique and "somewhat different" from models of other manufacturers. The start of serial production of the sedan is scheduled for 2021.
The new product will be based on the EMP platform developed by the PSA Group concern. Currently, this architecture is used in models such as Opel Grandland X and Peugeot 508. It provides for the possibility of installing electric and hybrid power units on cars.
In the brand's lineup, this model will replace the C5 and C6 cars. It is assumed that the large sedan will inherit some design features from the Cxperience concept car (pictured), which was shown in the fall of 2016 at the Paris Motor Show. The dimensions of the prototype were 4.85 meters in length, 1.37 meters in height, and the distance between the axles was three meters.
Other details about the car are not yet disclosed. The Citroen Cxperience concept was equipped with a hybrid system that included a gasoline engine with about 200 horsepower, an electric motor with 110 horsepower, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a battery pack. The range on electric power alone for the Citroen Cxperience reached 60 kilometers.
