Tests of the new Corsa took place in northern Sweden in Lapland, where temperatures dropped to minus 30 degrees Celsius. The cars were run in both on public roads and on special ice tracks on the ice of frozen lakes. Engineers noted that they tuned the chassis to "achieve an optimal balance between safety, comfort, and driving pleasure."

The next Opel Corsa will be built on the modular CMP (Common Modular Platform), which will underpin a number of models of the PSA alliance. The new chassis will make the car about 100 kg lighter than its predecessor. The engine lineup will include a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine, which will be available in several stages of tuning. In 2020, the model will have a fully electric version.

The top versions of the Opel Corsa will be equipped with LED matrix headlights, which debuted in 2015 on the new generation Astra, and then appeared on the flagship Insignia model.
