The new Peugeot 208 is built on the modular CMP platform. The model has become larger than its predecessor and has received features of the 508 sedan. The hatchback is equipped with LED optics, an elongated hood, 17-inch wheels, a new radiator grille and a different air intake.

Also, the new 208 has a black glossy trim across the entire width of the tailgate, a diffuser and a sporty exhaust system with chrome tips. In addition, three new body colors have been added: Faro yellow, Vertigo blue and Elixir red.

Inside, a digital instrument panel and a touchscreen of 5, 7 or 10 inches have appeared. The hatchback also received a new steering wheel, sport seats, carbon decorative elements, wireless smartphone charging and four USB ports.

The equipment list now includes adaptive cruise control, Mirror Screen functionality for smartphones, lane keeping assist, parking assistance and a driver fatigue monitoring system. Also available are a road sign recognition system, blind spot monitoring and automatic high beam switching.

The engine lineup of the new Peugeot 208 includes a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine. The unit will be available in three power levels: 75, 100 and 130 hp. The engine works in conjunction with a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission, as well as an 8-speed automatic. In addition, the model is equipped with a 1.5-liter diesel with an output of 100 hp. Such an engine works in conjunction with a 6-speed manual transmission.

For the first time, the hatchback received a fully electric version called the Peugeot e-208. The electric car differs by a slightly modified radiator grille, as well as a port for connecting the charging cable. The “green” hatchback is equipped with a power plant of 136 hp and 260 Nm of torque.

Up to 100 km/h, the electric car can accelerate in 8.1 seconds. The range is 450 km (according to the NEDC cycle). The electric car can be charged from a regular home network (a full charge will take 16 hours). You can also use a Wall Box unit with a full charge in 5 hours 15 minutes from a three-phase network (11 kW) or in 8 hours from a single-phase network (7.4 kW).

Sales of the new Peugeot 208 will begin in the autumn of this year. The new model will be available for purchase in five trim levels: Access, Active, Allure, GT Line and GT. Prices for the model will be announced later.
