BMW Blog journalists, citing data from internal sources, claim that the top versions of the new generation BMW 7-Series will receive hybrid powertrains based on six-cylinder engines. These units will use plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and mild hybrid (MHEV) technologies.
It is expected that the power of such hybrid systems will be at least 570 horsepower, and torque will reach 800 N·m. For comparison: the current "seven" with a 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 engine develops 530 hp and 750 N·m, while the 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 is capable of delivering 609 hp and 850 N·m.
