Under the hood of the Subaru Ascent is a new turbocharged boxer engine with direct injection, 2.4 liters, producing 264 hp and 367 Nm. The engine is paired exclusively with a Lineartronic CVT. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed performance and fuel consumption figures.

Production of the Ascent crossover will be set up at Subaru's American plant in Indiana. Sales in the US will start closer to summer. The model's entry into other markets is still in question.
