The Cross Country differs from the regular V90 by its all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance of up to 210 mm (+65 mm), and plastic body cladding around the perimeter. Optionally, the model is available with rear air suspension and adaptive dampers.

The V90 Cross Country engine lineup consists of a two-liter turbocharged petrol engine in two power variants – 254 and 320 horsepower, as well as two versions of a diesel of the same displacement, producing 190 and 235 hp. A manual transmission can only be had with the base diesel engine; all other modifications are equipped with an 8-speed automatic.

The Volvo V90 Cross Country will retire the XC70 model and will compete with the off-road wagon Audi A6 Allroad.

When the public premiere of the new model will take place is still unknown, as the Swedish company has decided not to participate in the upcoming Paris Motor Show.
