The new model is built on the V platform, which also underpins the new Micra, Sentra, Sunny, and Note. For now, the car will be sold with only one engine – a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine producing 114 horsepower. As for the transmission, you can choose: either a 5-speed manual or an X-Tronic CVT. Drive is only to the front wheels.
Externally, the model is very similar to the Kicks concept, which was shown in Brazil a year and a half ago. Expensive trim levels of the new model will include a 7-inch screen, a surround-view camera system, and a system for detecting moving objects around the car.

From 2017, the Kicks will be produced in Rio de Janeiro, at a facility that by then will have received an investment of $192 million and hired 600 new employees. In addition to the new model, it is planned to assemble the March and Versa models there.
