The head of the company, Martin Winterkorn, announced that the new brand will appear in 2018. Initially, the lineup will feature two crossovers, and then, likely, a sedan and a hatchback will be released.

“We are actively working on creating affordable cars together with our joint venture FAW-Volkswagen for the Chinese market. It is planned that the new models will be introduced under a separate brand,” the statement says. At first, the cars will be available only in China, but in the future, they may enter other markets. The price is expected to range from 8,000 to 11,000 euros.

The new budget brand is intended to compete with Dacia. The company emphasizes that the low price will not affect the safety and quality of the cars. “We continue to work on the cost. The main thing is to create a car that will meet all safety norms and quality standards,” said Hans-Jakob Neusser, who is responsible for brand development, earlier.
