During an event dedicated to Infrastructure Day, Yulia Klymenko, deputy head of the parliamentary Committee on Transport, outlined key directions of future legislative initiatives.

It is expected that the validity period of a driver's license will be reduced from thirty years to ten to fifteen. Accordingly, drivers will undergo medical examinations and psychological state checks with the same frequency. In addition, if a driver accumulates a significant number of administrative penalties, they may be required to retake exams — both the theoretical part and practical driving.

Separately, the revision of the current category system is mentioned. For professional drivers employed in transport companies, mandatory qualification confirmation every five years is planned, which will comply with the requirements adopted in the European Union.
