A citizen who installed gas on a car and did not register the conversion with the MVD service center appealed to the court. Police inspectors discovered this and fined him 340 hryvnias.
The driver went to court to have the fine overturned, as he believed that installing LPG equipment did not lead to a change in the total mass and its distribution along the axes, the location of the center of gravity, the type of engine, its weight and power.
During the consideration of the case, the court took into account that, in accordance with clause 31.1 of the Ukrainian Traffic Rules, the technical condition of vehicles and their equipment must comply with the requirements of standards relating to road safety.

And according to clause 31.3 of the Traffic Rules, the operation of vehicles is prohibited if they have been converted in violation of the requirements of standards relating to road safety.
Also, clause 32.2 of the Traffic Rules indicates that the conversion of vehicles is coordinated with the territorial bodies for the provision of service services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Law "On Road Traffic" in Article 32 prescribes that a conversion that led to a change in the registration data of a mechanical vehicle must be reflected in its registration documents. And the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated 21.07.2010 No. 607 classifies the conversion of an engine to alternative types of liquid and gas fuel as a conversion.
Thus, the court ruled that the installation of gas cylinder equipment on a car is considered a conversion. It must be coordinated with the MVD service center, and the corresponding mark must be made in the vehicle registration certificate. The fine issued to the driver remained in force.
