As is known, the document was adopted on February 16, and it significantly increases the amounts of fines for almost all key violations. For example, if a driver is not wearing a seatbelt or was talking on the phone while driving, they will have to pay 510 hryvnias. For provoking an emergency situation on the road, the fine has increased to 1445 hryvnias, and for exceeding the speed limit by 50 km/h or more — from 1700 hryvnias.

The punishment has also become significantly stricter for those who got behind the wheel while deprived of their license. The minimum fine in this case is now 20,400 hryvnias, and if the violation is repeated, the amount will increase to 40,800 hryvnias.

The most severe sanctions are provided for driving a car while intoxicated. Starting today, you will have to pay from 17 to 51 thousand hryvnias for this. If a drunk driver becomes the culprit of a fatal accident, they face imprisonment for a term of 5 to 12 years.
