Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV left behind two of Tesla's most popular models – the Model 3 sedan and the Model Y crossover. In addition, it surpassed two new electric vehicles from Volkswagen, on which the German brand places high hopes – the VW ID.3 hatchback and the VW ID.4 crossover.

Overall, the global statistics for April look as follows (a total of 400 thousand electric cars were sold):

  • Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV – 29,251 units (since the beginning of the year – 125,925);
  • Tesla Model Y – 16,232 units (72,296);
  • Tesla Model 3 – 14,980 units (141,696);
  • Volkswagen ID.4 – units (17,743);
  • Volkswagen ID.3 – 5,941 units (17,703).

Interestingly, the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV is sold only in China, but due to its low cost, it not only became very popular but simply blew up the local market. This allowed it to rise to the top. However, very soon this electric car will appear in Europe – albeit with a price tag twice as high, though with improved characteristics (and under a different name – FreZe Nikrob).

The Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV is a very small car that is ideal for a metropolis. It reaches 2917 mm in length, 1493 mm in width, and 1621 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1940 mm. The cabin is four-seater. The electric car is offered with two batteries to choose from – with a capacity of 9.3 kWh and 13.9 kWh, providing a range of 120 and 170 km, respectively. There is only one motor – with 27 hp and 85 Nm, which is enough to reach a maximum of 100 km/h.

In China, you can buy a Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV for at least $4,500. There is also a more expensive option, for just under $5,000 – such a car differs by having air conditioning.
