The new generation of the Golf earned the maximum possible five stars in crash tests. Protection for the driver and adult passengers scored 95%, children — 89%, pedestrians — 76%, and the effectiveness of assistance systems — 78%.
In all types of tests, the hatchback demonstrated almost perfect results, but experts noted weak protection for the chest of rear passengers in a full-width frontal impact. Also, during a side collision, the car's doors flew open.
The updated Nissan Juke also earned the maximum rating. The compact crossover scored 94% for driver and adult passenger safety, 85% for children, 81% for pedestrians, and 73% for the operation of safety systems. Data from the dummies indicated a risk of chest injury to the driver in a pole impact.
