Volkswagen has applied a familiar strategy: in a similar way, through a holiday card, the company presented the first teaser of the ID.Buggy show car in 2018. However, that model, being quite specific, never made it to the assembly line, while the new project has much more serious prospects. The subcompact electric hatchback promises to be the most affordable in the ID lineup — its price will not exceed 20 thousand euros. For reference: the starting price of the ID.3 is about 30,000 euros.
Volkswagen's electric newcomer will be a pioneer on the MEB Entry architecture — a cheaper version of the standard MEB platform. In terms of dimensions, it will be close to the e-up! model, in other words, its length will not exceed four meters. The compact electric car is aimed at residents of large cities whose daily trips mostly fit within 25 kilometers, and the battery will provide a range without recharging in the range of 210–240 kilometers.
