Experts rated the safety level for the driver and adult passengers of the Audi A6 at 93%, for children at 85%, and for pedestrians at 81%. Electronic assistants scored 76%. The only remark concerned insufficient protection of the driver's chest in a pole impact. At the same time, specialists highly praised the standard automatic braking system before an obstacle.
The third-generation Volkswagen Touareg crossover scored 89% for adult safety, 86% for child safety, 72% for pedestrian protection, and 81% for electronic systems. The car successfully passed almost all tests, but specialists identified a risk of chest injury in a frontal collision with a deformable barrier, during a full-width frontal impact, and in a pole impact.
For pedestrians, the main threat is posed by the front edge of the hood and the windshield in the area of the lower part of the pillars. The automatic emergency braking system demonstrated reliable operation even at high speeds. Testers also positively commented on road sign recognition and the lane-keeping function.
The Ford Torneo was awarded four out of five stars, while the new Suzuki Jimny received only three stars. Crash tests of the latter showed that the driver could suffer serious chest injuries in a collision with a deformable obstacle, and in a full-width frontal impact there is a risk of head injuries for rear passengers.
