Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelsson said that the Drive-E series engines will be the last generation of internal combustion engines in the history of the Swedish brand.

The company will abandon the development of new petrol and diesel units, focusing efforts on creating electric cars and refining existing Drive-E powertrains.

Starting next year, every Volvo model will receive at least two TwinEngine hybrid modifications, and then the Swedes will move to the production of fully electric vehicles.
