Specialists of the concern are responsible for creating important technical units, including a preselective gearbox with two clutches, similar to the DSG from Volkswagen. Production of such a unit has already started.

The new product with the index C635 is called TCT. The robotic gearbox with two dry clutches and six speeds is compact and lightweight — only 81 kg. For comparison, the six-speed DSG of the first generation from VW weighed 12 kg more. At the same time, both "robots" are designed for a comparable torque: 352 N·m for Fiat versus 350 N·m for the competitor.

The new unit is already installed on the Alfa Romeo MiTo hatchback with the 1.4 MultiAir engine as an option. In the future, TCT will appear on other Fiat and Alfa Romeo models, and by 2013 — on Chrysler cars as well.

Almost all cars of the Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Chrysler brands with engines producing up to 352 N·m will be able to be equipped with this gearbox. For more powerful units, classic six- and eight-speed automatic transmissions are provided.
