Hatchbacks up to $8000: five practical models
Autoportal experts identified the following five hatchback models:
1. Fiat Bravo II (2007–2014)

A 400-liter trunk and large rear doors make the Bravo convenient for transporting groceries and suitcases. A naturally aspirated 1.4-liter 90-hp engine with a manual transmission is suitable for the search. Such versions are found for around $5500. Before buying, the clutch and electrical equipment need to be checked.
2. Renault Megane III (2009–2013)

The five-door Megane has a 372-liter trunk in the version with a spare wheel. The variant with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and a manual transmission allows you to avoid a turbo and a robotic gearbox. Listings include cars for around $6200–6850. It is worth checking the electronics and the timing belt replacement history.
3. Hyundai i30 I (2007–2012)

The trunk volume is 340 liters, and with the rear seats folded it increases to 1250 liters. For the search, you can choose a naturally aspirated 1.4- or 1.6-liter gasoline engine with a manual transmission. For example, a 2012 i30 with a 1.4-liter engine is offered for $6250.
4. Ford Focus II (2008–2011)

The five-door Focus after the facelift offers a 385-liter trunk with a wide cargo compartment. A naturally aspirated 1.6-liter gasoline engine with a manual gearbox is suitable for the selection. 2009 cars are available for around $6500. Checks before purchase include: body, suspension, and timing belt maintenance.
5. Nissan Pulsar (2014–2015)

The Pulsar has a 385-liter trunk and a spacious rear row. Diesel 1.5 dCi versions with a manual transmission fit within the budget: a 2015 car is asking $6700. For this variant, confirmed maintenance and checks of the fuel system, turbo, and particulate filter are important.
