According to the results of frontal crash tests conducted by EuroNCAP, the worst result was shown by the Nissan Navara pickup. Experts rated the protection of adult passengers in this model at only one star out of five possible. As reported in the European organization's report, the vehicle's chassis deformed significantly during the impact, leading to damage to the floor in the area of the driver's legs. The accelerator pedal moved backward by almost 20 centimeters, creating a risk of serious lower limb injuries. It also turned out that the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners deployed with a delay, which could cause life-threatening injuries to people inside the Navara. Notably, after the test results were published, Nissan decided to recall these pickups to reconfigure the airbag control unit. In a side collision, the Navara demonstrated a maximum result, but for child and pedestrian protection, the model received three and two stars, respectively.
The Mitsubishi L200 pickup earned four stars in the frontal crash test, scoring 27 points out of 37 possible. EuroNCAP specialists noted that the driver's chest is not protected reliably enough, and elements of the dashboard could cause minor injuries to the hips and knees of passengers. For child safety inside the L200, it received three stars out of five, and for pedestrian protection, only one star out of four.
The third tested vehicle was the Isuzu Rodeo (D-Max), which received only two stars for overall protection. The organization's report notes that in an accident, there is a high probability of serious injuries to the driver's chest and neck, and their legs may suffer due to the deformed floor and brake pedal, which moved slightly upward at the moment of impact. For child safety inside, this pickup earned two stars, and for pedestrian protection, one.
