According to UNIAN, during a hotline at the Cabinet of Ministers, First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Mykhailo Klyuyev reported that the Kobra unit will be disbanded.
He noted that the ministry's leadership has decided to abandon this structure, and relevant organizational measures are currently underway.
Klyuyev also explained that three new units will replace Kobra, but they will not receive the special functions that the previous structure had.
According to the deputy minister, these units will only be engaged in guarding and escorting officials, without any additional powers in the regions.
Commenting on the dismissal of Kobra's deputy commander Oleksiy Kozh, Klyuyev stated that this decision by the minister was lawful.
