Now all used cars sold through Association dealers receive insurance against breakdowns. In Ukraine, the number of new car registrations has been declining for six months in a row. The reason is the crisis and the rise in prices of most foreign cars. Against this background, the secondary market has revived: Ukrainians are increasingly thinking about buying not a new, but a used car. Already now, sales of used cars are twice the registrations of new ones. The Association of Used Car Dealers and the company "Choice Ukraine" believe that in the coming years the crisis and falling incomes will only strengthen this trend. Demand is also fueled by the growing number of sales of credit cars that have been released from collateral.
At the same time, many are wary of used cars. "There is an opinion that when buying a car on the secondary market, instead of an 'iron horse' you often get a 'pig in a poke'," says Maksym Rasner, director of "Choice Ukraine". "The reason is the 'gray' schemes for selling used cars, which are widely practiced in Ukraine. Often sellers at spontaneous markets resort to any tricks to give the car a marketable appearance and hide breakdowns."
Previously, the buyer had a poor choice: either buy an expensive new car, or save money and put up with constant repairs of a used one.
The situation was changed by uniting market players and creating the Association of Used Car Dealers. Currently, it includes more than 30 large car companies, in whose showrooms you can buy used cars.
All cars sold by dealers who are members of the Association undergo full diagnostics and receive a legally formalized conclusion on their technical condition. Under the Trade-in program, you can profitably exchange an old car for a new one or any other used car. The Association is also ready to cooperate with banks if you need to arrange a loan for a purchase.
"At the Association, you can buy a used car quickly, conveniently, and reliably," says the head of the Association, Taras Kovalenko. "We also offer a wide range of related services, and all working parts of the car are covered by breakdown insurance from 'Choice Ukraine'. The insurance covers free repair and replacement of a failed part. The owner chooses the warranty period themselves."
The company "Choice Ukraine" represents in Ukraine the insurance group "Choice USA", which for more than 16 years has been among the leading associations in this segment in the US market. All risks under the insurance products of "Choice Ukraine" in Ukraine are borne by the insurance company "Providna".
"Our common goal is a civilized secondary market," summarize representatives of the Association and "Choice Ukraine". They are confident that joint work will mark the beginning of a new stage in the development of the used car market.
