Yes, the German financial and analytical company Allianz conducted a study (by analyzing insurance data for 2018-2020) and found that CASCO insurance payouts for electric vehicles are on average 10% higher than for fuel-powered counterparts. At the same time, repairing electric cars damaged in accidents actually costs on average 30% more.

Hybrids, however, turned out to be even more "costly" for insurers. Expenses for such cars turned out to be 50% higher.

The reason for such expensive repairs lies primarily in the battery. In the case of "green" cars, it is the second most expensive component after the body (prices for new batteries can reach up to 20,000 euros). And while in electric vehicles they are often located in the floor and at least somewhat protected, in hybrids they are installed at the rear and are extremely vulnerable in a collision.

At the same time, it should be understood that even a minor accident can result in repair or even replacement of the battery. And some manufacturers prescribe the installation of a new battery even if the power element itself remains intact, but the airbags have deployed (due to the risk of so-called hidden damage).

Finally, another "scourge" of electric vehicles is the wiring. Cables often become the object of attention of rats and mice - rodents use them as food. Many electric vehicles have protection for this, but if animals still get to the wires, car repairs can cost a pretty penny. On average, a set of cables for electric vehicles costs about 7,000 euros.
