"Gold" based on last year's results went to the long-time sales leader Toyota Corolla. The popular Japanese model sold almost 1.1 million units. It is followed by another Toyota – RAV4, which has just under 995.7 thousand units. In third place is Honda CR-V, followed by Honda Civic, and the top five is closed by Toyota Camry.
Overall, the top ten looks as follows (changes relative to 2020 are in parentheses):
- Toyota Corolla: 1,097,556 (-10.5%)
- Toyota RAV4: 995,762 (+4.5%)
- Honda CR-V: 736,980 (-9.2%)
- Honda Civic: 687,704 (-15.8%)
- Toyota Camry: 609,303 (-12.9%)
- Volkswagen Tiguan: 596,898 (-19.6%)
- Nissan Sylphy: 546,631 (+14.9%)
- Volkswagen Golf: 475,205 (-30.4%)
- Toyota Yaris: 458,578 (+18%)
- Honda Accord: 451,261 (-15.5%)

As can be seen, sales dropped the most for the Golf. In general, all models showed a decrease in demand, except for Toyota RAV4, Nissan Sylphy, and Toyota Yaris. But while the RAV4 showed a slight increase, the Sylphy and Yaris surprised with a fairly significant jump in popularity.
