Yes, back in the summer of 2020, the publication auto.24tv published a material in which it detailed that prices for "wrecked cars" began to rise in the USA: for example, the popular Ford Fusion with a 2.0-liter engine jumped in just three months from an average of $900 to $4,000. Among the reasons for such growth, colleagues pointed to a decrease in supply at auctions with the same demand. As trite as it may sound, due to quarantine, Americans began to drive less, and accordingly, get into accidents less often. In addition, the procedure for delivering cars to auctions became more complicated – transport, logistics. However, this is not the only reason why cars in the USA have become more expensive and continue to become more expensive.

Another factor contributing to this trend is the rise in prices for whole used cars in America. As local media report, over the year the average price of a used car in the United States increased by almost 14 percent and amounted to $23,000. The reason is the same: too few cars for sale during the pandemic and too many buyers. At the same time, the price increase occurred at an inopportune time for customers, since many were experiencing financial difficulties, while others were looking for a car to avoid public transport trips due to coronavirus. At the same time, many Americans refused to buy a new car and decided to consider the option of purchasing a used car. Again, due to rising prices! Thus, according to edmunds.com, for the same 2020, the price of a new car reached a record $40,578, which is 6% more than a year earlier. At the same time, the situation was aggravated by the fact that new cars were in short supply when last spring many automakers closed their factories to stop the spread of coronavirus infection.
Finally, the pandemic also affected the segment of leased cars, which annually replenish the American "second-hand market" in quantities exceeding 3 million units. Americans stopped taking cars for temporary use for a fixed monthly fee, accordingly, used car dealers will not receive products for subsequent sale for some time.

Ultimately, the price jump led to the creation of three classes of car buyers: the rich, who can buy a new car, middle-income consumers, who can only afford a used car, and people with low incomes or bad credit history, who are forced to buy old cars. In this vein, an unprecedented case occurred in the USA – demand grew for cars with mileage over 100,000 miles (160 thousand km), which, by the way, until recently were claimed by Ukrainians.
What's the bottom line? It is obvious that American cars can rise in price so much that it will simply be unprofitable to bring them to Ukraine. Moreover, this applies to good (live) cars - junk, most likely, will be imported further, therefore, its quantity will increase even more on the domestic used car market.
