According to information published in the Mercedes-Benz Passion blog, which cites data from its own sources, the company is preparing to discontinue the S-Class coupe and convertible. The reason for this decision was the automaker's desire to cut costs in anticipation of the development and release of new electric models — to save money, it is planned to remove a number of niche cars from the lineup, including the expensive S Coupe and S Convertible versions.

As insiders claim, orders for these two models will be accepted until May, and production is expected to be completed by August of this year. These cars are based on the platform of the current generation S-Class W222, which has been around for about seven years, but in 2017 the coupe and convertible underwent a planned modernization. It is expected that their place in the lineup will be taken by the EQS electric vehicle line, built on a new architecture.
