The study is based on a survey of American owners of three-year-old cars. They were asked to answer 177 questions (divided into eight main categories) about problems they encountered during operation. Based on the survey, a rating was compiled showing the average number of defects per 100 vehicles of each brand.

This year, Genesis topped the list. It turned out that for every 100 Genesis vehicles, there are 89 problems. Lexus took second place (100 malfunctions per 100 cars). Buick rounds out the top three with 103 complaints. Porsche (104) and Toyota (113) took fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Land Rover owners found the highest number of problems in their cars — 220 defects per 100 vehicles. In addition, Chrysler and Jaguar were at the bottom of the list with 214 and 186 problems, respectively.
