The Japanese model sold 610,661 units in the first six months — that's 0.4% less compared to the same period last year. These figures are provided by the analytical agency focus2move.
Following the leader is the Ford F-Series pickup, with sales of 536,461 vehicles, which is 3.2% more. The third spot is occupied by the Volkswagen Golf, remaining the most sought-after car in Europe: its result is 441,948 units sold (+0.8%). Fourth place goes to the Honda Civic — 424,688 units (+7.2%), and the top five is rounded out by the Toyota RAV4 with 408,703 vehicles (+7.5%).
The top ten most popular models in the global market also include: Volkswagen Tiguan (405,085 units, +16.3%), Volkswagen Polo (375,795 units, +8.3%), Honda CR-V (337,802 units, -4.0%), Toyota Camry (337,107 units, +6.3%), and Chevrolet Silverado (323,107 units, +8.9%).
Overall, from January to July, 48 million new passenger cars were sold worldwide — that's 3.2% more than in the same period of 2017. The global market has been showing growth for the ninth consecutive year.
