The leader in 2016 was the Volkswagen Golf, capturing almost 5.9% of the Swedish car market, while the Volvo V70, S90 and V90 models together managed to win only 5.7%.
Interestingly, 54 years ago the most popular model in Sweden was also a Volkswagen, but not the Golf (which did not exist then), but the Beetle.
But in terms of total sales, Volvo still holds the lead in its home market – 21.5% versus 15.7% for Volkswagen.
