Chrysler officials have stated that they have encountered problems in organizing the production of the new generation Dodge Viper. The reason is the reluctance of many suppliers to participate in a project with small production volumes. Company representatives note that companies supplying components are not showing interest in such cooperation.

Chrysler expects to unveil the new version of the supercar before the end of 2012. As explained by Ralph Gilles, who heads the SRT division, the expected production runs of the future Viper are quite modest, and this is what scares off potential partners.

For comparison: in the best year for the model, 2003, sales of the Viper barely exceeded 2,000 units. Such low demand was explained not only by the high cost of the car, but also by its high fuel consumption. Nevertheless, the company hopes that with the arrival of the new generation, the model will be able to refresh its image.

Details about the new Dodge Viper, the premiere of which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012, have not yet been disclosed. According to available information, the supercar will receive the familiar 8.4-liter ten-cylinder engine, which will be refined using Fiat's MultiAir technology. Earlier, there were rumors about the possible installation of a Ferrari engine, but the brand's management denied this information.
